World AIDS Day was the first ever global health day, and it was first started in 1988. History of World AIDS Day World AIDS Day first originated in August 1987 James W. Bunn and Thomas Netter, the two public information officers at the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland for the Global Program on AIDS. These two officers took their idea to Dr. Jonathan Mann a Director of the Global Program on AIDS, he like the idea and with the permission of Director of the Global Program on AIDS, the World AIDS Day should be observed on 1st December 1988. In its first two years, the theme of this day is to be focused on children and young people. In 1997, the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) had started the World AIDS campaign to focus on yearly-round communications, prevention, and education. The World AIDS campaign is becoming an independent organization, in 2004. Its aim is to finish the AIDS. More than 100,000 people are living in the UK with HIV. Globally, there are about more than 36 million people are suffered from this disease. All the World AIDS Day Campaigns focus on a specific theme chosen by UNAIDS, the World Health Organization, and national and international agencies to the prevention, treatment, and care of HIV/AIDS. Is it a Public Holiday? The United Nation’s World AIDS Day is an annual observance, and it is not a public holiday. Public life is not affected by this. Each year, about 5,000 people in the UK and about millions of people around the world are suffered from HIV, and people do not know about the facts that how to protect themselves and others from this disease.
